Born in Manila, on 18 August 1957. In 1970, he enrolled high school in the University of the East in Manila. In 1974, his eldest sister Suzette did portraits for five years, and during this time he encouraged Philipp to take up advertising. Instead, Philipp entered UE to major in painting, supporting his way through college as a coder at the Philippine President Lines. Badon sold his first painting to ballet luminary Joji Felix Velarde who saw Women in Forest in the UE Fine Arts stock room in 1977. He eventually received his Bachelors of Fine Arts degree from the School of Music and Arts in the University of the East in 1980. Badon had more than 20 one man shows in Australia, New York, Malaysia, Singapore and in the Philippines. He also participated in more than a hundred group shows around the country.

In 1981, he married Thelma Llorico whom he has three children. Four years after, he was invited together with Llorico to teach at the Ganesh Art Center by the UE Humanities professors. In 1985, he also began his two year teaching stint at Yvonne Jurado’s Academie Beaux Arts at the Legaspi Towers. At the same time, he also curated the Galleria delas Islas located at Calle Real del Palacio in Manila, where he was exposed to indigenous tribal crafts and rituals that would cast a large influence on his art.

He makes studies that are mostly for commissioned pieces. His wildly varied theme runs from the common mother-and-daughter figures to the galactic impressions and erotic art. His style has been commonly drawn into comparisons – rightly or wrongly – to early Picasso without the dark mood but with a splash of color. Badon cracked the Hollywood art circle when Tom Hanks, Diana Ross and Roberta Flack became his regular clients.

In Manila, among his local celebrity clients includes TV host and personality Boy Abunda who is not shy to drop a line about his growing collection of Badon impressionists and figures which he exhibits in his house.
