Born in Mexico, Pampanga, Romy is considered as one of the finest realist painters in the country today. Romy’s near hyper realist rendition in his paintings can be attributed to decades of dedication to his art. Unlike other late bloomers in art, Romy cannot live without it. He took up his Fine Arts degree at the prestigious University of Santo Tomas School of Fine Arts. He took up vocational course in photography that gave him an edge among other artists. It is not surprising that Romy supported his family thru art. he started working as an artist in 1965 at Rustan Industrial Packaging Corporation when art is art (meaning there was no computer aided software to help artists back then.). After a short stint at Associated Pharmaceuticals, Inc. as a medical artist, he devoted his entire corporate life as an Art Supervisor in Ad and Promo Department at Mercury Drug Corporation from 1969-2000. After 35 long years in a corporate world, Romy decided to call it quits and put up his own Graphic Design Shop and teaches art thru workshops. Having the liberty to become a full time artist, he joined the Las Piñas Artists Society in 2007 and in 2010 the Filipino Artist Realist Movement where he actively participated in various exhibits and competitions conducted by the Art Association of the Philippines. He recently joined the Visual Artist of Parañaque to broaden his horizon in the field of art.
