Roman Lucena was born July 3, 1984. He is from Caloocan City. He started to paint in 2009 at the age of 25. With no formal art studies in any school he decided to self-study of his artwork. He focus on three component. Texture, image and details. His inspiration of those three component is base in what he saw on daily basis like old roof, flooring of the jeepney, old tiles of comfort room and even the sachet of 3 in 1 coffee pack. He use acrylic and he likes to put metallic on his work to look more premium.
His latest inspiration is based on our very own Philippine weaver. He love the technique and the process of interlacing. It’s not dripping actually but its weaving. He like metallic acrylic and the technique of interlacing, that’s why he called his work METTALIC INTERLACING.
