Romeo E. Gutierrez, a recipient of many local and international awards, including the National Commission of Culture and the Arts (NCCA) 1994 Diwa ng Sining Award: Ten Outstanding Visual Artists of the Philippines and finalist in the 6th International Print and Drawing Biennial held in Taipei, Republic of China in 1993. Prof. Gutierrez has taught generations of artists in the College of Holy Spirit, he has held 30 one-man and group-art exhibitions in the Philippines, China, Hong kong, Taiwan, Chile, Great Britain, Germany and key cities in the United States such as New York and Washington, D.C.
A former Board of Director and Vice President of the Art Association of the Philippines (AAP), Prof. Gutierrez has been featured in prestigious publications such as Who’s Who in the International Art (1994, Lausanne, Switzerland: The 3rd (1987), 5th (1991) and 6th (1993) International Graphic Arts Biennial: AAP Artworks First Fifty Years 1948-1998 (2011); Living in Art Artist (1995); Encyclopedia of Philippine Arts (1994) Art Philippines (1983); Shell Reunion Artist (1983), and the Epiphany of Philippine Graphic Arts (1982).
Prof. Gutierrez has indeed made an indelible imprint in the art industry. His works are displayed in the collections of prominent private and individual art collectors (i.e. Gokongwei, Ayala, Sycip, Romualdez, Sy, Araneta, Ledesma, Pangilinan, Guico, Aquino among many others) and institutions such as The Manila Peninsula Hotel, National Arts Center, Manila Diamond Hotel, Intercontinental Hotel, National Museum, Manila Mandarin Hotel, Museum of Philippine Art, Ayala Land Inc.
